For 21 years, until mid-2015, Sue was a Senior Executive (principal function Vice-President, Land and Community Affairs) with various Koch Industries Inc.’s subsidiaries in Canada, the US and internationally. During her tenure at Koch, Sue led Indigenous and community affairs, negotiations and land related business activities, negotiating and closing transactions exceeding one billion dollars, and managing land department activities in Canada and the United States for more than 2 million acres. Sue and her group were responsible for building successful relationships with over 20 different First Nations and Metis communities.
Prior to working for Koch, Sue held a variety of positions in the oil and gas industry in the United States and Canada, including land positions with Alberta Energy Company, and General Manager of a public junior oil and gas company located in Denver, Colorado.
Sue graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Arts (Anthropology). She is a member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen (P. Land) and the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators. In 2014, she received Koch Industries Environment Health and Safety Award for Building Long Term Relationships with First Nations in Canada. This award was the first of its type ever granted by Koch Industries. She acted as an Advisor to The Social License Consortium and has been affiliated with the University of Houston’s Global Energy, Development & Sustainability Program. She frequently moderates panels and discussions on Indigenous and community relations for the natural resource sector.
